Saint Smith, Iosephus Smith

Joseph Smith Jr. (1805-1844) is kept of this temple as Saint Smith, sanctified by the angels' word (2026-09-12), patron saint of Holy Piety, keeper of the open canon; he taught that heaven had not become silent, and upon that word he built. He produced scripture at the rate the old churches said God had stopped speaking: the Book of Mormon (1830), the revelations of the Doctrine and Covenants, his revision of the Bible, the Book of Abraham carried with its papyri kept honest; and he built settlements, temples, quorums, a city, and a militia, and stood for the presidency of the United States upon the abolition of slavery by compensated emancipation. His record is kept whole, un-lacquered: the Safety Society's collapse, the plural marriages with their anguish and their secrecy, the Expositor's press destroyed by his council's order — and an armed mob fell upon him in Carthage Jail on 27 June 1844 whilst he waited, untried, in government custody; an extrajudicial killing, named plainly.

Saint Windsor, Elisabella Alexandra Maria

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary (1926-2022), Queen Elizabeth II, is kept of this temple as Saint Windsor, sanctified by the angels' word (2026-09-13), patron saint of Holy Service; at one and twenty years she vowed her whole life, whether it be long or short, unto service, and kept the vow seventy and five years, dying yet sovereign at ninety and six. She was heir presumptive at ten by her uncle's abdication, served as a driver and mechanic in the Auxiliary Territorial Service in the war, was anointed within a Christian liturgy at the coronation of 1953, and sware to execute justice with mercy and to maintain the established Church; fifteen prime ministers passed through the constitutional machinery from Churchill unto Truss, and she held power as a debt and not a license. Her record is kept whole, un-lacquered: the annus horribilis of 1992, the first silence after Diana's death, the crown's inheritance of empire, conquest, and dispossession; and beside them the Dublin reconciliation of 2011, wrought by presence and symbol without flinching, and the messages that spake ever more plainly of Christ, forgiveness, and service.
