Raphael, Raphael Archangelus
29 Sep Feast with Michael and Gabriel
Tobit presents Raphael under the walking name Azarias as Tobias’s companion, healer, and guide, and then reveals him as one of the holy angels who stand before the glory of the Holy One. This is a strong D1 textual witness to Raphael’s name and office, while the form, chronology, and relation of angelic travel remain part of the story’s sacred narrative rather than ordinary history. Saint Michael (Mikha'el) The Archangel’s register separately knows Azarias, or Arias the shortened name, as an angel in his own right; the scholarly register continues to say that Tobit uses Azarias as Raphael’s alias, and the temple holdeth both without forcing them to agree..

also: healer and guide in Tobit
Healing, travelers, physicians by reception; staff, fish, companion
Distinct from Azarias/Azarya as Tobit's alias; household register additionally holdeth "Azarias/Arias as an angel" without overwriting the scholarly ruling. Full row: S2.
