Economic Justice

The wound of the world, named and tended: the end of extreme economic disparity, which is the direct consequence of the one family.

The Charge

The end of extreme economic disparity. This is a direct consequence of the Principle of the Family: if we are indeed one household, then the hoard of one is the hunger of another, and the arithmetic is not an accident but a wound. We must address the massive, systemic distribution of wealth that alloweth a few to store up resources while billions in our global family suffer the lack of basic needs. This imbalance is a wound in the world, and we are obliged to heal it.

The charge standeth whole in the four doors of the Reparare; the principle beneath it, in the Principle of the Family.

The Reading of the Wound

A wound untended festereth; a wound unmeasured cannot be tended. Therefore the first work is honest seeing: the counting of what is gathered and by whom, the tracing of the channels through which plenty and want are made; and the refusal of the comfortable lie that the disparity is natural, or deserved, or too large to mend. It is large; it is not beyond mending.

The Works of Healing

The works are plain, and each reader's hand may find its share: to give with an open hand, and to give beyond the open hand; to buy and to sell justly, preferring the neighbour's bread to the margin; to speak against the systems that make want profitable; to hold the common wealth common, that no member of the family be left without the basic needs while another sitteth upon abundance. The temple keepeth no ledger of these works but the reader's own: write them in the Ledger of Deeds, and let them rise as a temple.

The work of the covenant continueth in the Common Prayer, the Prayers, Blessings, and Declarations, and It Is Upon Us to Repair the World. The wing's threshold telleth of them all.
