Quotidie
A room for the turning of the day, where thou mayest read, and examine, and wonder, and let each morning find thee newly begun.
The Morning: Read
At the rising of the day this room is made new, and one article of the covenant is laid before thee, cycling through the ten as the days pass. Read it slowly; let it be the day's first word and not its last thought. What thou readest remaineth upon thy device alone; nothing is carried away, and no one is told what the morning found thee reading.
The day's article standeth here abridged; the whole of every article is kept in the Pactum ad Vitam Pacificam.
The Evening: Examine
When the day is spent, three questions attend thee, and they are for thee alone. Answer them within this page if thou wilt; the words remain in thy browser and are sent nowhere. Here no one marketh thy failures, and no one praiseth thy successes; the examination is between thee and thy conscience, and the honest answer is the whole of the work.
Where this keeping standeth in the temple's record: the privacy record's storage inventory nameth this key and its room, and it resetteth with the day.
The Wonder: Be Curious
Then a wonder is given thee: one law of the natural world, and one question to carry. The law is true and the question is open; neither demandeth an answer by nightfall. Curiosity is a blessed act, for the heavens declare the handiwork of their Maker, and the smallest creature speaketh of a wisdom deeper than our own.
The cabinet of the wonders standeth whole in the Curiosity Cabinet; a wonder is given here one by one with the days.
The Door
At the turning of the day all is made new again, and nothing is carried over but the habit of returning. When thou art ready to keep the hours with the household, a door leadeth to the observance sheet, where the day is kept in common. Till then, let this room be thy quiet corner, and come as often as thou wilt.
The work of the covenant continueth in the Common Prayer, the Prayers, Blessings, and Declarations, and It Is Upon Us to Repair the World. The wing's threshold telleth of them all.
